NAME of the Char Dham in Hindu religion
Hindus believed that visiting char Dham helps them to achieve moksha. Char Dham in the Hindu religion consists of 4 groups of the temple in 4 directions of India. it has a great culture plus a great mythological role in the Hindu religion they are Jagannath Temple, Badrinath Temple, Dwarka temple, Rameswaram temple. The Adi Shankaracharya of India defined these temples. Adi Shankaracharya also situated 4 mathas with respect to 4 temples(Char Dham) and 4 Veda of the Hindu religion.
Firstly Jagannath temple puri, Odisha. It is in the east part of India. However Lord Jagannath is considered as 10th abtar of Lord Vishnu in the Hindu religion. Here Lord Vishnu worshipped as lord Jagannath with sister Subhadra plus eldest brother Balaram. Puri temple is famous for its annual Ratha yatra. In Ratha yatra, 3 Gods of the temple go to Gundich mandir by decorated temple’s cars. Lord Jagannath is made of wood. The temple was built by king Chodaganga dev 1st king of the Eastern Ganga dynasty. Here the Govardhana matha is present and also it represents the rig Veda which was situated by the Adi Shankaracharya.
Secondly Badrinath temple, Uttarakhand, India. It is in the north part of India. Here the temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Hindus believe that the Nar-Narayana (an avatar of the Lord Vishnu) did Tapasya here. At that time the berry trees covered this place. Berry is called Badri in the Sanskrit language, so the place was named badrika-van by the devotees which means that forest of berry. And Mata Lakshmi becomes a berry to save lord Narayana. The berry formed a covering to protect Narayana. It happened in Satya yuga. So the place is named Badrinath. Here the Jyotrimatha matha is present and it represents the Atharva Veda. The Adi Shankaracharya situated the matha.
Dwarka temple(name of the Char Dham)
The thirdly is Dwarka temple, Gujarat, India. It is the west part of India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna. In duapara yuga Lord Krishna made Dwarka his residence instead of Mathura his birthplace and gapapura. Hindus beliefs that lord Krishna is also an avatar of Lord Vishnu. In this avatar Krishna killed his uncle kansha and established a world without any crime he moved on to Dwarka and made his kingdom. Here the Dvaraka matha is present and it represents the Sama Veda. The Adi Shankaracharya situated the matha.
The next place is the Rameswaram temple, Tamilnadu, India. It is the south part of India. The temple is dedicated to lord shiva. Hindus beliefs that in treat yuga when lord ram built a shiva-lingam in Rameswaram to get the blessings of lord shiva. So after that incident, the place was named Rameswaram. It means that Ramaswamy-God of Rama. . Here the Sringeri Sarada matha is present. It represents the Yajur Veda. The Adi Shankaracharya situated the matha.
Name of the Chota char Dham in Uttarakhand
In Hindu religion has also a Chota char Dham. It is also a group of 4 temples. The temples are Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath. All temples are present in Uttarakhand the north part of India.
Yamunotri- it is the origin place of the river Yamuna. The river Yamuna has a great holy role in the Hindu religion. The Yamuna is a tributary of Ganga.
Gangoyatri- it is the origin place of the river Ganga. The river Ganga has a great role in the Hindu religion. Ganga meet whit Yamuna in the city of Prayag raja also named as Sangam. Hindus also consider Prayag raja as a holy city.
Kedarnath- Devotees worship lord shiva in the Kedarnath temple. Kedarnath is one of the jyotirlingas from the twelve jyotirlingas of lord shiva.
Devotees worship Lord Vishnu in Badrinath and in his Nar Narayana avatar.
