So UNESCO promotes and saves education, science and culture. So UNESCO works to save the world heritage site of the world, to save the culture of a society.


Benefits of “world heritage status” are-


It gives a new identity the world over. The status says about the place that the site has an outstanding and exceptional feature in the world.

Funding- the site gets funds from global, state and central body for its protection and conservation.

Tourism- the site has a status of a world heritage site that gets international attention. So the tourism increases. It will benefit the nation.

Protection during wartime- According to the geneva convention, the world heritage site becomes protected against destruction and misuse during War.

1-Tangible World Heritage

2-Intangible World Heritage

The site must represent the genius creativity of humans. The site must be an outstanding example of a building, architectural or technological ensemble or landscape which have a significant stage in human history.

There is 38 tangible world heritage site in India. These include 30 cultural sites, 7 natural sites and 1mixed-criteria site. That is Kanchenjunga.

Intangible World Heritage

It is in the abstract form not in physical form. It is a cultural heritage of human or a society. India has 13 intangible or cultural heritages.

We will discuss all 13 cultural heritage of India.

1-Vedic Chanting-(Rigveda, Samveda, Yadurveda, Atharvaveda)

2-Yoga- in 21st march whole world celebrate the Yoga day, it declared in 2016

3-Nawrouz- it is the new Persian new year or the Indian new year. Usually, it occurs on march 21 or the previous or the following day.

4-Buddhist chanting of Ladakh.

5-Traditional brass and copper craft of utensil making in Panjab

6-Kalbelia folk dance of Rajasthan

7-Kumbh Mela– Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh. It is the latest intangible cultural element, declared in 2017.

8-Kutiyattam, Sanskrit theatre in Kerala

9-Mudivettu- it is a ritual theatre and dance drama of Kerala

10-Chhau dance- it is of three types named by its location. They are Parulia Chhau of west Bengal, Mayurbhanj Chhau of odisha, seraikella Chhau of Jharkhand.

11- Sankirtana of Manipur

12-Ramlila- the traditional performance of the Ramayana in Uttar Pradesh

13-Ramman- it is a religious festival and ritual theatre of the Garwal Himalayas.
